The Chilean
government, through its department of SERNAPESCA
(National Fishery Service) maintains very strict quality
control standards similar to the FDA's HACCP program. The
Chilean program is called PAC (Program
for Assurance of Quality). Experts from SERNAPESCA
perform monthly inspections of all certified facilities.
A variety of hygienic and operational norms and standards
are required in order to maintain certification. Isla del
Rey has received the highest rankings in the PAC certification
program for years which means you can rest assured that
your customers will receive only the highest quality products!
HACCP Certified
Assurance Process
is performed under a Quality Program based on HACCP
(Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points)
principles, using GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and
SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure).
Kosher
Certified
Periodically a
Rabbi from the London Federation
of Synagogues (www.kfkosher.org) visits our plant
to perform the inspection required for the
KOSHER Parve certification of
our Smoked Salmon and Trout lines. In recent years, Kosher
certification has become attractive for the
general
public
since the meticulous
care and quality control assures one of a premium product.
Every ingredient is inspected as well as third party providers
to know how the salmon is processed and how the primary
materials are handled. The Kosher system of revision, control
and supervision
of hygiene and quality includes everything from inspections
of the physical plant, production lines, ingredients, elaboration
process, packaging and the final product.
Our staff of quality assurance experts and trained plant personnel
work to make sure that Isla del Rey products exceed your expectations.
Isla del Rey is serious
about Quality Assurance
Our
full time quality assurance staff inspect products
upon arrival and before shipping. Random samples are
taken of the production and sent to independent certified laboratories for testing.
From the moment
the
catch is landed until it arrives to its destination,
international
standards are maintained.
The
Niebla Plant
Our headquarters and main processing plant are located
in Niebla, near the historic city of Valdivia. The tranquil
harbor
is home to one of our fleets and the neurological center
of our operations.
The state of the art processing plant grew by 100% in 2002 with a half a million
dollar investment which boosted our production to just over 1,000,000 kilograms
of seafood products.
The plant houses three processing halls, three blast freezing tunnels, and a
French Thirode Agro Cold Smoking Chamber. Products are packed with Cryovac sealing
systems, a leader in vacuum packaging, modified atmosphere and vacuum skin packaging
technology.
The Porvenir
Plant
Isla del Rey with its major partners, Bakkavor Group hf and Fram Foods hf have opened a new processing plant in Tierra del Fuego, near Antarctica. This plant is
even closer to our southern most fishing fleets.
These glacial waters of Southern Chile abound
with King Crab, Snow Crab, Sea Urchin, Clams,
Sea Scallops and
numerous other
seafood products. The construction includes a
modern processing plant,
employee housing, freezing tunnels,
facilities for personnel and laboratories. The full-time
staff of 55 people will work year round to bring
you the same Isla del Rey quality products that so
many
satisfied customers have come to expect.
